My Journey Through The Skies

online aviation internship for school students

This August, I had an incredible opportunity to explore the world of aviation from the comfort of my home. Despite the virtual setting, the experience was anything but ordinary. The internship not only fuelled my passion for aircrafts but also provided me with experience in various aspects of the industry. From understanding the intricate parts of an aircraft to exploring the complexities of airport management and runway specifics, every moment of this internship was a step closer to the skies.

Learning the Anatomy of an Aircraft

One of the most fascinating parts of this internship was getting to know the ins and outs of an aircraft. I learnt about the different parts of an aircraft, from the powerful engines that propel it forward to the delicate control surfaces that keep it stable in the air. Understanding how each component works together to ensure a safe and efficient flight was nothing short of awe-inspiring. It’s one thing to see an aircraft from the outside but looking into the details of what makes it fly gave me a whole new experience for the engineering marvels that take it to sky everyday.

Understanding Runway Specifics

Runways are the heart of any airport, and understanding their specifics was a crucial part of my internship experience. I learnt about the different types of runways, how they are designed, and the importance of runway markings and lighting in guiding pilots during takeoff and landing. The attention to detail in maintaining runways is immense, and I gained a deeper appreciation for the work that goes into ensuring they are safe and ready for every flight. This knowledge made me see airports not just as transit hubs but as carefully managed environments where every element plays a critical role.

Discovering Flight Training Aircrafts

Another intriguing aspect of the internship was learning about the different types of flight training aircrafts, such as Cessna and Diamond. These aircrafts are widely used for pilot training due to their reliability and ease of handling. I explored the various dials and instruments in the cockpits of these planes, learning how they provide pilots with essential information such as altitude, airspeed and heading. Understanding how these instruments work and how they are used in real world flying situations gave me a deeper insight into the training process and the skills required to become a proficient pilot.

Experiencing Simulators Remotely

One of the most thrilling aspects of the internship was the opportunity to interact with flight simulators, even in a virtual format. Through specialized software and guided online sessions, I got a taste of what its like to pilot an aircraft in a simulated environment. Although I wasn’t physically in a simulator, the remote experience was immersive, allowing me to understand how pilots train for various flight scenarios, including emergencies. This virtual experience was a perfect blend of technology and aviation, providing invaluable insights into the life of a pilot.

My internship with Ofly was a journey that took me from the ground to the skies, providing me with valuable knowledge and experience that I will carry with me as I continue to pursue my passion for aviation. Whether it was learning about the parts of an aircraft, the different types of aircrafts, or the specifics of runway design, every aspect of this internship deepened my understanding and appreciation for the world of aviation. I can’t wait to see where this passion will take me next!
